About me

September 7, 2008

My name is Darcy Delaney. I received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication with a minor in sociology from the University of Oklahoma. While attending the University of Oklahoma, I was a staff writer at The Sun newspaper in Midwest City. I worked for The Sun for three years and contributed editorial content that included news and feature articles, obituaries, photos and Web content.

I began the master’s program in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication during the spring semester of 2008. At that time I also began an assistantship with Visiting Professor Warren Vieth. It has been an honor to learn from a journalist who has a vast knowledge of the field and who is still willing to learn the future of journalism and pass that on to his students.

I am currently in my second semester in the journalism master’s program and continue to work as a graduate assistant for Professor Vieth.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend of six years, Jon, and my dog, Rigby. I also spend a majority of my time with my brothers, parents, niece, nephew and other family members.

My ultimate goals include completing the master’s program and entering a Ph.D. program at another educational institution to eventually become a journalism professor.
